Rooted Group's Partnership with LeaderFlow Leadership Development Program

Empowering Leaders through the LeaderFlow Flowcilitator Orientation Training

In June 2023, Rooted Group embarked on an exciting collaboration with The LeaderFlow Leadership Development Program to deliver an in-person Orientation Training for leaders in the AEC industry in June.

The orientation training was developed for all AEC leaders interested in developing their skills as a facilitator of the LeaderFlow Development Program in order to help them facilitate with equity and inclusion in mind.

Our aim was to equip these leaders with tools to acquire and sharpen the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindset to work together better and understand their common objectives across teams while fostering unity, confidently generating conversations around racial equity, and embracing the diversity of thought and experiences within their unique organizations.

Rooted Group's  Consensus and Alignment Services offer a roadmap to help in the development of the Inclusive Facilitation Curriculum, with the hopes that it will generate a positive impact on the leadership approach to industry relationships and collective growth.

Building Relationships Through Honoring Experiences and Targeting Common Goals

Rooted Group's Consensus and Alignment Services play a vital role in the partnership with LeaderFlow. These services highlight the importance of building relationships across the industry, fostering trust, and creating spaces for meaningful dialogue.

Through the guidance of tailored facilitation techniques and strategies, Rooted Group supports leaders in aligning their organizational goals with addressing objectives related to race, diversity, and inclusion.

By emphasizing consensus building and collaboration, the training is aimed to empower participants to work collectively with collaborative teams and determine the best approaches for fostering inclusivity within their organizations.

Flowcilitator Leaders are Invested in Fostering Growth

Among the cohort of leaders who joined the Flowcilitator Orientation in June, we were honored to host both new and returning participants looking to support others, strengthen their leadership approach, and empower all voices to be heard within the AEC industry.

With varying degrees of familiarity with the Leaderflow experience, and their roles as Flowcilitators, each of our responding participants indicated a desire to enhance their facilitation skills and were eager to expand their efficacy at planning and facilitating their program session with Equity and Inclusion in mind while making space for vulnerability, discomfort, and– at times–  disagreement and conflict.

Rooted’s Facilitation Curriculum: Inspiring and Equipping Leaders

One of the cornerstones of the LeaderFlow Flowcilitator Orientation Training was the development of Rooted’s Facilitation Curriculum. This curriculum was designed by Rooted Group to inspire and equip leaders to take on the crucial role of truly inclusive facilitators. The curriculum provides a proven framework that focused on embracing diversity, working collaboratively, and directing practical conversations around race and diversity. It covers essential topics such as active listening, balanced participation, navigating uncomfortable conversations and a watchful awareness of individuals in light of group dynamics. Through the orientation, leaders gained valuable insights about the kinds of practical tools best used to navigate the complexities of promoting diversity and fostering unity within their organizations.

Fostering Unity through Collaboration

The Inclusive Facilitation Training (or whatever we decide to call it) aimed to create a ripple effect of change by empowering leaders to establish a method for collaboratively developing a process to reach consensus on specific priorities and objectives, co-create strategy, and incorporate feedback and ideas from the work group. It’s designed to help participants examine best practices for managing and facilitating difficult conversations,  identify steps to address and resolve power dynamics within the group and become more familiar with established methods to more effectively communicate with others during high-stakes and challenging conversations within their organizations.

By emphasizing collaboration and collective decision-making, the training encouraged participants to leverage the collective intelligence and expertise of their teams. The objective is to strengthen an individual's critical skills when it comes to creating a culture of inclusivity where all voices are heard, valued, and respected. The training provides leaders with the necessary skills to facilitate conversations where there are different perspectives and experiences….around racial equity and diversity, fostering an environment where open dialogue and collaboration can lead to meaningful change and focus on emerging and sustained goals of their organizations.

The partnership between Rooted Group and The LeaderFlow Leadership Development Program to develop the LeaderFlow Flowcilitator Orientation Training has been an incredible journey of growth, collaboration, and empowerment. Through Rooted Group’s Consensus Building and Alignment Services and the development of the leaders in the AEC industry have been inspired and equipped to honor everyone’s input within their organization regardless of their race.

The training has empowered leaders to acquire skills for how to effectively lead and facilitate a conversation, meeting, or training with equity and inclusion in mind, and It empowers leaders to create environments that foster unity, promote collaboration, and spark conversations that will continue to drive positive contribution to the industry. We are grateful for the opportunity to make a lasting impact and look forward to the collective growth and progress that lies ahead for the AEC industry and beyond.
